Colorado Tech Week Draws 5,000 Attendees

Over 5,000 people participated in over 30 events throughout the state during Colorado Tech Week, October 17-25. t\The first-ever weeklong, statewide series of events celebrating and showcasing technology innovation drew national and international media attention. Local organizations throughout the state raised more than $825,000 in sponsorship donations, far exceeding the funds raised by any previous Tech Summit events.

“Colorado Tech Week transformed the Annual Tech Summit into a statewide event where we were able showcase how the innovations and industries of the future are lining up to position Colorado as a global technology hub,” said Brian Vogt, OEDIT director and acting secretary of technology. “We were able to reach out to 5,000 statewide, national, and international participants, and further established Colorado’s leadership in growing our national technology economy.”

Each event was organized by individual companies, organizations, industry experts, international representatives and a number of associations. The OEDIT coordinated statewide and international media during the week, as well as hosted a trade delegation from Canada.

Many of the funds raised will support existing programs, services and activities offered by the individual host organizations such as the Colorado Technology Community Foundation (CTCF), which connects the resources and opportunities of the technology sector with the identified technology education needs of kids in Colorado's underserved communities. The Colorado Software and Internet Association (CSIA) is planning to give 10 percent of the proceeds from its DEMOgala to the Louisiana Tech Council to help with recovery in New Orleans.

Colorado Tech Week featured events spanning a number of industries and areas of focus including cable/ telecommunication, aerospace, biotechnology, nanotechnology, software, Internet, storage, homeland security, education, radio frequency identification (RFID)/GPS, robotics, and alternative energy.
