OEDIT Branding Initiative

Branding Colorado

The Governor's Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) is spearheading an innovative branding program that will mark a significant new step in creating a stronger strategic alliance between the public and private sectors across various industries, from technology, business finance and economic development to international trade, tourism and higher education. OEDIT’s core goal is to foster a robust and enduring state economy by cultivating a strong positive business climate that encourages quality economic development through financial and technical assistance for local and regional economic development activities throughout the State of Colorado.

In May 2004, the OEDIT enlisted a group of marketing professionals to become part of the Colorado Branding Team. This call to action resulted in the creation of a volunteer branding team that hit the ground running.

OEDIT’s branding program is not simply about a logo or a tag line. It is about the images and emotion that are evoked when the word “Colorado” is spoken or heard. Although they are individual to each person, the images and emotions that come to mind are similar – mountains, sunshine, educated workforce, quality of life, etc. “Colorado is the brand and has been integrated into the state Portal, www.Colorado.gov and all of OEDIT’s marketing collateral. OEDIT is working with other State Agencies to integrate the Colorado Brand.
