Webolutions Participates in 2nd Annual Grocery Cart Race for Charity
Amy Martinez - 2.1.2012 5:00 PM
For the second year in a row, Webolutions® participated in the Annual Grocery Cart Races at Safeway On Havana Street to support Comitis Crisis Center.
This event was created by Gayle Jetchick, Executive Director of the Havana Business Improvement District. The Havana Business Improvement District’s mission is to create experiences that make your life more interesting. This is an event that will definitely make your life more interesting! This event was composed to support Comitis Crisis Center – a food bank in Aurora, CO that serves many people every single day. Their mission is to help the Aurora community get through emergency situations and tough times.
Webolutions is proud to support a great local organization. The Havana Business Improvement District works with Safeway (1677 S. Havana Street, Aurora CO 80014) and the Comitis Crisis Center to coordinate this very fun (and free) event for the community. Comitis Crisis Center provides a list of items they need to fill their pantry. Each team raises money and then uses that money to purchase that amount of groceries for Comitis. Teams must spend the money in 5, 8 or 10 minutes, depending on how much money their team raised. This year Webolutions organized 3 teams to participate (Extreme Couponers, Cereal Killers and Queens of the Aisle) and together we raised over $700 for the organization. In total, the event raised $5,000 for Comitis!
This is a great way to support your local community, raise money for a local charity and is also a great team building exercise. If your company is looking for an exciting local charity event to participate in, we definitely recommend this one! It takes place every year in February, be sure to sign up next year, it’s a blast!
