Push the Reset Button on Your Marketing Initiatives

The markets are topsy turvy. The employment and business landscapes have changed. Everything seems to be in somewhat of a state of flux.
I heard once that the Chinese word for crisis is, “Opportunity Riding the Dangerous Wind.” I always remember this. I am truly of the opinion that when drastic change occurs, great opportunities arise, at least for those who are looking for them! Are you someone who stops growing your business when times change or someone who refuses to be beat, no matter what?
In a recent South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce (www.bestchamber.com) meeting with about 20 CEOs and executives, there was an analogy set forth to, “Push the Reset Button.” This statement refers to adjusting your internal mental presets as to what you believe to be true and consistent. In times of vast change, you should push your reset button far more often, maybe daily, than you would normally.
Many businesses are doing this right now in terms of their marketing. Some key areas of focus include:
• Client Relationships
• Communications
• Experience Marketing
• Employee Performance
• Product Offerings
• Overall Value
Take a step back from your marketing activities and reevaluate. Are you still pumping money into advertising mediums which are no longer effective? Should you explore new avenues that will be more effective over the next few years (Social Marketing)? Are you communicating consistently with your clients? Do you have a value proposition that everyone really understands and needs? Are you providing an experience that truly sets you apart from all other options? Be honest. Be current. Push that reset button often to make sure you continue to evolve faster than your competitors.
