Denver Social Media Marketing: Breaking through the Clutter
Patrick Yuan - 9.2.2010 9:30 AM
Let’s face it; more isn’t always better, and the Internet is the epitome of more. While the web is a platform for posting pretty much anything and everything, that doesn’t mean your social media marketing strategy should be to post just anything. Successfully creating and promoting content can directly draw visitors to your Website, help your search engine rankings, promote your brand, and create lifelong customers.
So what is it that you are trying to say with your social media?
Are you making posts to try to draw attention to your company, or are you saying something because people outside of your company are genuinely interested? Posting too much content that is not useful can be like getting your car stuck in the mud; you keep turning your tires but you just dig yourself deeper ino the mud. If people aren’t interested in what you are saying, people won’t read it, let alone link to it . Worse yet, if people feel spammed by your posts, when you do have a great post it may get ignored.
Every blog post is a first impression, so it is important to put your best foot forward every time you make a post. While not every blog post is going to be your best, each one should be informative and interesting so that the reader is inclined to read the next post. Building your initial following is the hardest part of any SMM (Social Media Marketing) campaign. Once you have a following, maintaining it and allowing it to grow gets easier.
So before you start posting, it is important to develop your strategy to include what exactly you want to say. This does not mean you have to write every blog post, every comment, or every tweet in the development phase of your strategy. What it does mean is that your social media is a reflection of your brand and plays a huge role in your experience marketing efforts. Get rid of the mixed messages, boring blogs, and break through the clutter so that your social media marketing efforts increase your profit margin.
