Denver Social Media for Business Group Talks Sharing Across Social Networks
Mike Hanbery - 1.27.2012 8:00 AM
Social Media Marketing for Business - Join the Conversation!, kicked off its 2012 calendar with a discussion among attending business owners and executives about successes and risks of sharing content across various Internet social networks.
Thanks to Dale Honning Videography, a complete chronology of the event is available on Webolutions' Facebook Page.
Discussion highlights included:
- Definition of Social Media - The use of web-based and mobile technologies to turn communication into interactive dialogue regardless of time and geography.
- Should you share the exact same social media content across all your social media channels? Or, do you need to edit and tailor this to the specific channel?
- Is Meetup.com a Social Media Site? What about a blog? Forums? Review Sites? Other?
- How do you determine the best social media channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube) for your company?
- What tools do you use to Listen to the broad conversation? Google Alerts, RSS feeds, Radian 6, etc…
- What tools do you use to manage your content postings? Tweetdeck, Hootsuite, Facebook Mobile
The group, which meets on the third Friday morning of each month at the South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce in the Streets at SouthGlenn, has grown to be among the top ten in the world. The entire business community is welcome to attend and enjoy a topical discussion, business networking and delicious breakfast treats from My Favorite Muffin and Peet's Coffee SouthGlenn.
Upcoming events include:
- Friday, February 17, 2012: Privacy and Copyright – Legal Considerations of Social Media. Featuring active group member and subject matter expert Jim Thomas, Attorney/Owner at Minor & Brown and author of the No Funny Lawyers blog. This is always a popular topic and central to the risk/reward equation for any business.
- Friday, March 16, 2012: Social Media's Role in Your Search Engine Placement. How important is social media to your company's overall search rank?
- Friday, April 20, 2012: Utilizing Video in Social Media Marketing. YouTube is second only to Google in search engine traffic. What does that mean to your business? What type of investment should you consider in video and how will you achieve return on that investment?
The entire 2012 calendar of events is available at the group's Meetup site.
Feedback from attendees remains overwhelmingly positive:
- "The presentation was outstanding. The agenda was well implemented and the participation of the audience was a great part of the presentation." - Michael H.
- "The group is very useful, helpful and good connections. Great experience and a wealth of brain power to rub shoulders with." - Vickie H.
- "You always come away motivated and with something you can immediately apply to your own business." - Stephanie L.
For more information about the group, contact Savanah Sporer at Webolutions, (303) 300-2640, or Patrick Pratt at the South Metro Chamber (303) 795-0142. Or just join us February 17 for Privacy and Copyright – Legal Considerations of Social Media, which will touch upon acronyms like SOPA, PIPA and SLAAP, providing expert perspective on issues related to defamation and intellectual property rights protection on the Internet.
We hope you'll join this dynamic group at an upcoming event.
